What is aXTend RF? The aXTend RF
product uses radio frequency technology in
combination with an extensible Dynamics AX class
framework to give you access to almost any
functionality you have in your Dynamics AX
application from a hand-held device.

computer consult. aXTend RF allows them to

aXTend RF provides default menus and
screens for select functionality that gives

Technical Information. The core of
aXTend RF is the aXTend terminal engine.
This engine is the middleware that allows
your personnel to communicate with Dynamics
AX
using wireless devices. The aXTend terminal
engine loads your defined screens and menus
when it starts up from a standard XML
configuration file which you create using
the aXTend RF Screen Builder inside Dynamics
AX.
Designed using Dynamics AX’s Business Connector
and the Microsoft .NET Framework, the aXTend
terminal engine runs on Microsoft Windows as
a service quietly starting every time your
hardware boots up.
Functionality that Grows with You.
aXTend RF is available with its standard
functionality; however it is highly
customizable to address special requirements
or situations.
In addition to the default
menus and screens, custom menus and screen
layouts can quickly be developed using the
aXTend RF Screen Builder inside Dynamics AX to
arrange the menus and inputs to match your
exact process. All business logic is
programmed in Dynamics AX using the Dynamics
AX
development environment, this coupled with
an extensible code framework and the aXTend
Screen Builder makes it possible to bring
your particular processes to almost any RF-capable
wireless device.
 Hand-held
Terminals. aXTend RF will function on
any device capable of connecting to a TCP/IP
server and supporting ANSI terminal
emulation. The aXTend RF interface is all
textual allowing it to run fast and on both
newer and older hardware.
 Connecting
all the Pieces. Dynamics AX provides immense
functionality to your organization and with
a single system being used in so many
diverse processes, the opportunity exists
for one functional area to cause a slow down
in the overall system performance for brief
periods of time.
To minimize the impact of
system slowdowns on your warehouse staff
aXTend RF offers the ability to query data
and update batched data directly with your
SQL server, allowing a person picking a
large order for example to complete their
task with out being delayed by the system,
then posting their transactions back through
the standard Dynamics AX business logic.
