the AXUG Summit is the premier annual
conference for Dynamics AX users, AXUG
Partners, and key Dynamics AX personnel from
Microsoft. Summit 2009 took place in Chicago
earlier this month. In addition to
attendance by the entire staff, Greenlight
BTS principal Brian Lounds
participated in helping facilitate and
coordinate conference sessions.
Greenlight BTS scheduled its annual corporate
meeting to coincide with the 2009 AXUG
Summit, to take advantage of the resources
assembled in one place, at one time. Sixteen
staff members and three members of
partner-company
Systems Advisors Group
(SAG-US) attended both the corporate meeting and
the Summit. "The Summit is very important to us because
it is focused specifically on the Dynamics
world," stated Greenlight partner Oli Gunnarsson.
"It gives us an opportunity to get the perspective of the clients,
so we can learn what they are thinking
about AX and the usability issues they may have
with its various modules."
A major difference between the AXUG
Summit and other similar conventions is that the sessions are
facilitated by the User Group
member-companies and their clients, not by Microsoft, which usually
provides more of a marketing-approach
presentation than a usability-focused
approach.
"The AXUG Convention gives us an
opportunity to hear right from the 'horse's
mouth' about problems that may have
been encountered," Mr. Gunnarsson continued. "This unprecedented access to the end-user puts us in the position of
better-understanding the needs of the clients, both current and future, and being able to respond to those
needs quickly. Our commitment for the future is to increase our participation in the
AX User Group, not only at the annual Summit, but at other Dynamics-related activities that take place throughout the year."
