Olafur (Oli) Gunnarsson is an experienced
business man and technology consultant. He
offers a strong background in various ERP
packages, platforms, relational databases
and languages including: Windows NT, AS/400,
OS/2, Novell, DB2, MSSQL, MS-Access, RPG,
Pascal, C, Java, Lotus Notes, and
MS-Project.
Since 1986, Gunnarsson has applied his
passion for technology to business needs
when he founded a software development house
with fellow students at the University of
Iceland. During those early years in his
career, Gunnarsson also taught computer
science at the University and then quickly
entered the business market as a computer
scientist for two Icelandic companies,
Slippstöðin hf and Kerfi hf. (System, Inc.).
He left Iceland in 1994 to begin his
consulting career for a number of U.S. based
companies including Coldwater Seafood Corp,
Arc Partners, Inc. and Caliber Solutions,
LLP. In these roles, Gunnarsson gained a
variety of business technology experience
including strategic technology planning,
needs assessment, ERP software
implementation, project management of large
scale implementations and development
programs, integrated security modules for
corporations with international operations.
Perhaps the highest profile consulting
engagement Gunnarsson engaged was the design
of a technology plan to retrieve $20M of
lost revenue for the New York Stock
Exchange.
In 1999, Gunnarsson founded OFG
Consulting, Inc. in New York City. Over the
course of the next six years, he built a
client base of companies from a variety of
industry sectors providing integrated
business and technology consulting services.
His expertise in business process design and
technology solutions helped his clients
address issues arising from rapid growth and
acquisition to the pressures of global
competition.
Gunnarsson earned his MBA in Finance from
the Graduate School of Business, Fordham
University, New York, NY, where he graduated
with high marks earning him an induction
into the Beta Gamma Sigma fraternity
(National Business Honor Society). His
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Science was awarded by the Engineering and
Science Department of the University of
Iceland, Reykjavik, Iceland.
Gunnarsson’s personal life includes
interests in classical music, reading, fly
fishing, competitive long-distance running
